Our college faculty members participated in an international academic event organized by Samsun University as part of in-service training activities. The workshop, given by world-renowned researcher Prof. Dr. Ernesto Macaro, Professor of Applied Linguistics at Oxford University, focused on language learning strategies and approaches to language use in future teaching environments. At the event titled “Strategies for Language Learning and for Language Use in Future Context,” Prof. Dr. Macaro presented examples from his current research on second language learning strategies and findings on teacher-student interaction in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) classrooms. Macaro, recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of EMI, authored a book published by Oxford University Press in 2018 that is considered a milestone in this field. In addition to our Director Prof. Dr. Emrah EKMEKÇİ, our Deputy Directors Lecturer Salih KILIÇ, Lecturer Havva Nur BOZDOĞAN, and many of our teaching staff participated in the workshop. The event provided participants with current academic perspectives on the importance of a strategic approach to language learning and teaching, while also contributing to strengthening inter-institutional academic cooperation. At the end of the event, participants thanked Prof. Dr. Macaro for his valuable contributions and emphasized the importance of sustaining high-quality academic meetings in foreign language education.
